Decided to do my own take on what Maria and Julia would look like in the Castlevania Netflix series. Literally nearly every female character in the games is white and blonde, they also all look the same pretty much.
For anyone who is an anime only fan, Maria Renard is a vampire huntress in Symphony of the Night which takes place 300 years after the events of the series AKA Dracula’s Curse. She’s also Alucard’s love interest.
Julia is, if you haven’t guessed, Isaac’s younger sister and a witch (a genuine one). She’s also Hector’s love interest. I’m hoping she shows up at some point tbh.
L: Can I ask you about, well… you know her name. E: [offended] Oh, I know her name. L: Well, I just want to let you know - she’s mine. E: Oh, I’m sorry Lizzo but you’re mistaken ‘cause she’s mine.
“say hello to my wife and her rival turned lover who is also my ex whom i still have feelings for and our completely platonic friend who we have an open/no door bedroom policy with and his girlfriend who is also the woman we’re all in love with”
Tired of bi characters being treated like that, tired of POC being treated like that, tired of bisexuality being revealed like that, tired of a bunch of other shit;
So tired of trauma survivors being treated like that. Like our only destiny is evil.
(Trevor gets a “pass” from the story bc he’s white, he never talks about his trauma, and he settles down into a heterosexual relationship. Tbh, that’s it.)
But Alucard is traumatized and grieving, Isaac is traumatized and grieving; Alucard’s (honestly horrific) storyline here doesn’t even have any basis in the games, unlike Isaac’s;
It’s just like shouting “you don’t deserve happiness if these horrible things have happened to you and changed you in any way.”
And “Bad things happened to you and it’s affecting you badly? Then bad things will keep happening to you. You will never be safe. You will never be content. You will always be isolated and alone.”
I’m tired. I’m just tired. I’ve seen that narrative so many times and I’m done
